Supply List Supply List for Mindfulness and Art Journaling

  • Small Sketchbook (Blank Pages/No Lines)
  • Colored Pencils
  • Pen & Pencil
  • Something to sit or lie down on (yoga mat, blanket, cushion) (we do have a few cushions available)
  • Depending on the type of Visual Art Journal you prefer to keep, the following supplies may be helpful in richening your creative experience:
    • Watercolor set and/or Watercolor Pencils
    • A  few small and detail paint brushes
    • Micron Ink Pens
    • Gel pens of a variety of colors (sparkly are fun!)
    • Glue stick and/or Rubber Cement
    • Scotch tape
    • Magazine clippings
    • Personal Mementos, Photos, Letters, Lists, Doodles, Notes to Self
    • Any learning material, books, articles, etc. in your personal collection related to mindful living
    • Names or pictures of art or artists that inspire you
    • Quotes that inspire you
    • Any new art material you may want to try and explore

      Acrylic on Canvas Materials List:

  • Canvas QTY (3) sizes 16x20, 20x20, 20x30
  • Range of acrylic brushes that include a liner, filbert, flat and round tipped brushes, an assortment of sizes with approximately 8 brushes from small tip to large tip
  • Acrylic paints that include a basic set of colors, 24-pack
  • A palette
  • Medium size Glass jar for water
  • Several personal Objects that range in size and form and texture to create small still life
  • Optional: Photograph to be used in painting
  • Optional: Period Art Books

  • Fine point Sharpie
  • Tracing paper
  • Glue
  • White paper
  • Sketch pad
  • Newsprint paper (at least two different weights)
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • X-Acto knife
  • Prisma color, water color and oil pastels
  • Graphite pencil (any number) and regular pastels
  • Sketch pad strong enough paper for oil crayons (example: Strathmore 400)
  • Color wheel
  • Gray scale
  • Magazines

*Sports Weight Yarn/Cotton - This will be practice yarn. Cotton would be preferred if student wishes to make a dishcloth as the first project. Please no art yarn (boucle, roving, faux fur, pom pom…) for beginners a smooth textured and light color yarn would be preferred.

*Straight Needles - (Recommended sizes: 5, 6, or 7. Or according to students yarn.)

*Measuring Tape

The instructor will go over a more extended supply list in class, according to students’ projects. The instructor will have extra needles and practice yarns if students wish to hold off purchasing supplies until they choose their projects.
